In 2008 Giraldi Media and SVA approached FDT with a concept for a new media film festival: Out of Hand Festival,
highlighting innovative digital content created by students for playback on mobile devices as well as the web.
The event site required the creation of a creation of a site prototype with robust capabilities catering to two
groups- event competitors and the larger site visitor community.
FDT developed an elegant and easy to use website and Content Management System (CMS) which would allow Out of Hand
organizers to make site updates to editorial areas as well as supervise community activities. Entrants could create
their profiles, register/upload their submissions and pay related entry fees. Community members could sign up, watch
submissions, comment, vote, create personalized favorite’s play lists with sort and search functionality
covering the wide variety of content submitted to the event. Other community features built into the prototype
included personalized favorite lists, blogging, discussion groups, networking and news updates.
